Finally Figured Out!

Today was a very successful day! Well it didn't start out that way, but it got better. First it started out with the realization that I slept in my contacts. Luckily my eyes were totally fine. But I just took them out so I won't forget again tonight! After that I went to see if I had my drawing class. It was a tutorial so I wasn't sure if we'd have it considering we hadn't had a lecture yet. My class was supposed to be in the Amenities Building in classroom 4T5. I was a little wary about that number because it didn't make sense so I went extra early to find it. Well I walked around the entire building, couldn't find the number, and decided it was already past 11 so I just went back to my room and hoped we didn't actually have class.

After eating lunch in the canteen with Trace, I went to the third level Chinese class. The professor's spoken English wasn't that great but he was completely fine with me sitting in on the class. He was very friendly and explained things very well. I had no problem answering all the questions he asked me in Chinese and introducing myself in Chinese. However, there were other things said by him and others in the class that I didn't quite understand. So to be on the safe side I decided to take level 2 Chinese. Which means I can't take my gender and sexuality course.

This afternoon I came back to my room and spent 30 minutes going through all the open classes. I managed to get into a class that had been closed when I originally registered for classes: Hong Kong Popular Culture. After registering for that and the other Chinese class, I went to my history class (History of China in the 20th Century). The professor explained what we would be covering in the class very thoroughly. It seemed to be pretty similar to things that I learned in a class in high school, except maybe a little more detailed. Since that class would be my only class on Friday and I would resent it because of that, I decided to drop it and only take 4 classes. I will have a lot to do when I get back to Washington College for second semester, regardless of how many classes I take here so I might as well enjoy some freedom and travel.

So I am taking Mandarin Chinese as a Second Language II, Hong Kong's Heritage, Hong Kong Popular Culture, and Understanding Drawing.

Sophie and I went to Home Faery again for dinner. I have a feeling we will eat there a lot because the canteen will get old. But then again, Home Faery will get old too. We both stopped at the grocery store for blueberries for dessert and then watched Young Victoria (very good movie. highly recommended) in my room.

Now I don't have class tomorrow! So I will go to Shutian to meet up with Kelly, a friend from high school.
