Arrival of la familia!!!

Yesterday I went to pick my grandmother and mom up at the HK International Airport. I took what felt like a very long bus ride there (I think it just felt like forever because I was so excited) and rushed to the arrivals gate. Although I got there about 35 minutes after their plane landed, I still ended up waiting for 20 minutes for them to get through immigration and customs. It was SO nice to see them.

We took bus E34 to Tin Shui Wai - the area where their hotel is. The bus ride took a lot longer than I had anticipated, but luckily the bus terminal we got off on was right next to the hotel. Very convenient!

After taking their luggage up and freshening them up, I dragged the exhausted travelers back out. We took the MTR one stop to the stop for my university and then met Trace to go eat dinner at Home Fairy in Fu Tai. Mom and Grandmother loved the food! We ordered an egg and veggie dish, a fish and tofu dish, a spicy chicken and chili dish, and bubble teas.

Stomachs full, we trekked back to my hostel where they both collapsed on my bed while I gathered some things. We barely made it back to the hotel before Mom and Grandmother were instantly asleep! I slept on the pull out couch... it was not comfortable. Then of course they got up really early because of jetlag.

This morning we headed into the city to the Hung Hom MTR stop where we got off to go to the Hong Kong Museum of History.

The museum was great! It was very informative with a nice layout. The displays were beautiful. I highly recommend it to those who like museums.

With our stomachs growling, we took the MTR to East Tsim Sha Tsui where we ate dimsum at a restaurant called Jade Garden. It had a beautiful view of the harbor. I didn't really eat anything because I am not a big fan of dimsum, but Grandmother and Mom had a great time trying things (though they were not a big fan of the bird's nest egg rolls).

We stopped at the Chinese Arts and Crafts Store/Star House and saw some really beautiful, but pricey things. Oh well, we can dream :-)

Then we headed to the Avenue of Stars to look out over the Victoria Harbor. Because of the typhoon, it was not a very clear day; though luckily it didn't rain.

After a nice walk along there, we took the subway back to the hotel and had a late siesta. Still very tired, we ended up eating Japanese food at a restaurant in the shopping center next to the hotel. Then, because they are guests of the hotel, Mom and Grandmother had coupons for free dessert at a place in the hotel. So we got free chocolate mousse and waffles and ice cream... yummmm :-)

I came back to my hostel for the night because I need to register for classes online. This is the first semester my school will have an online registration system, so we shall see how this goes...

It is weird having my Mom and Grandmother here, but SO wonderful. I am so happy they are here and I can share some of what I am experiencing with them. I wish the rest of my family could come as well. To everyone back home, we miss you and love you!!
